This project was inspired by the graphic novel and film 300.   Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me for so long as I posted up numerous WIP pictures. It feels strange to have finally finished this and although there are always things that you would like to do better next time around I am very pleased with how it came out in the end.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me for so long as I posted up numerous WIP pictures. It feels strange to have finally finished this and although there are always things that you would like to do better next time around I am very pleased with how it came out in the end.

Simon Pickard lives just outside wellington and can be found on Flickr and Facebook as brick.spartan. Simon currently works as a writer and build specialist for Blocks magazine and is a regular contributor to the Brick to the Past collaborative group. Outside of LEGO Simon can also be found playing competitive chess, representing Somerset and winning the Wellington chess championship in the 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.

What was the first set you bought?
6989: Mega Core Magnetizer from the M-Tron series.

How long have you been making custom MOCs?
I started my first custom project as an adult in 2005.

What themes do you build in?
I’m happy trying most things but History themes are my most prominent interest.

What is your best creation?
My best creation is yet to come… My most popular to date is the Battle of Thermopylae (or 300) model.
